The 2021 first issue of Vértices is a special thematic dossier entitled “Riscos e desastres socioambientais: abordagens interdisciplinares”, carefully thought out by the organizers, the doctoral professors Antenora Maria da Mata Siqueira, Adriana Soares Dutra and Juliana Thimóteo Nazareno Mendes, who work at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF Campos), and Norma Felicidade Lopes da Silva Valencio, from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The dossier contains seventeen articles by experienced national researchers from various Brazilian institutions, as well as foreigners who provided us with their contributions on the topic of socio-environmental risks and disasters triggered by a complex social process. The authors, from different theoretical and disciplinary perspectives, present important contributions to the expansion of debates and practices aimed at strengthening public policies on the subject, among other possibilities. The articles originate from the content presented at the II International Seminar on Social and Environmental Risks and Disasters: interdisciplinary approaches, held in November 2019.
